wanna know how to?

look closely - it says rebekah

to make skeleton
step 1. fold paper in half
       2. write out name in cursive
       3. cut out
       4. sew onto felt

repeat the above steps till your whole family is completed

cut slits and tie muslin thru slits and onto broom

how to make broom = there are 2 ways

#2. cut down a tree branch and attach cinnamon broom (much more fun! + it smells way better!)

today's project is our dining room centerpiece
check it out!

(that took me all year to make ~ well it took a year to collect that many bottles!)

how i made it
  • every wine/ alcohol bottle we used (some are from family/friends)
  • once empty i would clean out and store in my craft room closet
  • in september i found these matte solid orange and white glitter candles at home goods
  • ripped some muslin fabric (about the size of a normal table runner)
  • and burnt down the candle {every once in a while i shake the table or bottle to make the wax fall down the side... makes it look so much more creepy!
it still needed the final touch
  • the cheesecloth was $1. at the dollar store
  • and black roses [someone] had gotten eric for his 30ith b-day. just popped them off their steam heads and tossed them around the table
and vuala a sophisticated haunted house styled centerpiece.

now for something not so haunted!

Halloween Blog Hop ~ Day 1

  Happy Halloween!
the next 4 days... colorful is on a spooky adventure! won't you join me..? wahhh haaa haaaa

the first project
creepy crape paper mache spider

as you can see it's pretty huge! and boy was it fun to make!
this is how

paper mache how to:
  • 5 parts water
  • 1 part flour
  • 2 Tabls salt (preservative)
  • boil about 3 minutes and let cool

blow up 2 ballons
  • 1st super large (spider body)
  • 2nd tiny (as spider head)
cover balloons with paper mache
  • i found it easier to cover the balloon 1st with computer paper then use the crate paper (makes it SOO much easier to work with cause it dries faster and is tuffer!)
hang balloon
  • by knotted end (ya know the belly button) - i hung it in the laundry room over the deep sink
once dry
  • pop ballons
  • hot glue the 2 balloons together at the hole ends (at the holes where the balloon belly button was pooping out)
  • hang
  • add legs with crepe paper - and you're done!
super spooky right?!

now for something not so spooky!
how about a giveaway?

Macy Monday

this layout hosts an amazing family picture i believe was taken for macy's family's christmas card (hence the little christmas trees in the bottom right corner)

flower stickers were super easy and ready to use by: K&Company

the brown flower underneath is a "thicker" and just the right texture! loved it!

also (kinda hard to see in this picture) is a inked up journal spot for macy to dabble her thoughts onto.. my favorite is the muslin and felt scraps held on by the mini staples.

thanks for checking it out!

Layout of the Week

could this be more Vegas more colorful or hold more memories? i think not!

hand-cut envelope stacked and stuffed with all kind of goodies.. let's look deeper
shown here i circle punched a journal spot diecut and adhered on a strip of scrap and tied off with a little bakers twine and muslin (my fabric of choice)

double stacked journal spots by "jennibowlin" spaced with foam dots & just case you can't read the oh so fabulous script of mine... its says A stroll down the Stripe

back to the fabric of choice  how amazing is this little pin-n-tuck stapled down with a little bakers twine

add a pop of color - oh yummy!

this of course is a pub NOT to be missed! its like it was just for us.. straight from our green and orange st. patty's wedding!

eiffiel tower! who needs the 10 hour flight to paris!

with all these memories, views and colorful times - i couldn't be happier!
