had to scrap this cartoon!

something simple to speak for itself

surprise

eric was out doing some errands and brought me these home from michael's - "they were on sale - wasn't that nice of me.... who do you know that has a guy that spoils them the way i do you?"
i had just told him i wanted to start collecting the friskars punches! he listened and actually brought me some home complete surprise! yeah!

so excited i made a mini book right away with the s.e.i paper and can't wait to start the next one K company double sided paper! going to be amazing i have some crazy ideas - something i've never done!
the s.e.i mini - i haven't found the right sized binder rings (need 3"-4" - its a big mini) once i do i'll be able to finish it and post it!

more supplies

for the much worked on quote book (one of these days i'll finish it) i got a couple lime green supplies at ruben rouge's 60% room! deals and steals! i'm lovin it! these puffy dots work well with my thickers.

these "ghost" shapes are fabulous! can't wait to use them! (got two packs)

this is everything i got together. i should mention that the luxe paper in the background for journling (wasn't on sale) is going to be amazing for quick quotes!

these huge bazzil flowers are to DIE FOR! can't get enough of them! i have use almost all of them already and NEED MORE! they are .49 cents and will for sure be getting another stack! how beautiful are they?!

so there's some new supplies.. love em and now i'll have to create something amazing with them!

cards for paul

friday the 11th I participated in my FIRST crop ever!

i wanted a simple project so there was plenty of time to check out what everyone else was up too! how they "work", how the crop "works" and just to hang out at the store.

These cards = my project. the basis/propose for these cards are my youngest brother paul shipped out for boot camp (Paris island) Monday the 14th and i wanted to make him a couple cards to send him in between the other letters i send him - i plan on writing him everyday over the next 13 weeks so i wasn't going to make a card for everyday - but a couple i thought would be nice.

the self made requirements for making the cards were:

~ simple

~ flat (nothing bulky is a requirement from the marines)

~ energetic

~ masculine

the first one i sent with him to read on the ride to boot camp

One of my goals for this year was to participate in a social scrap (see my “goals for 2009” mini album”) whether it was a crop, convention, or a class at Jo-Ann’s. Anything really that would be considered a “social” scrap. I’ve never participated in one of any kind and always shied away from them not knowing what to do, bring or what to expect.

Thinking seriously as the year has gone on and still having NOT participated in any sort of crop.. (not really getting very far with this goal) I put on my thinking hat on and had a brilliant idea - I should work at a scrap store!

At the beginning of the summer I talked to Ruban Rouge and asked if they needed any part-time help, not expecting to much but hoping for a connection. The answer was - the summer was slow and they were doing some “cutting down” themselves but I should call back in the fall when things get a little busier.

So last week I called and spoke with Lisa (the owner) and she asked me to email her my resume, cover letter and the link to… my blog… “Scrapbooking Boutique” 5 days later, which was yesterday, Tuesday, September 8th Lisa emailed me back and asked me to come in the store to meet with her and talk about a position in the store. Instant excitement! I hopped in the car and was on my way faster then you could say “glue dots!” The connection was instant and tomorrow is my first day! I’m super stoked and am going to participate in my FIRST crop this Friday! How exiting!

Beyond the fact that this achieves a personal goal for me it’s a learning experience far beyond what I could have imagined. Working with other scrapbookers, card makers and crafters alike will stimulate my mind to create what I believe will be something beyond that I’ve created so far. I look forward to helping other scrapers and learning from them as well!

While at the store I perused around and purchased a couple items that could not be left behind!

A mirror album (might get a couple more of these) how amazing! Haven’t seen this before. Not sure what or how I’m going to use it yet but looking forward to thinking and creating some possibilities.

Transparency frames - can’t get enough of anything transparent and these will work nicely in the quote book I’m finishing up.

The other thing was a cropper hopper paper holder - boy did I need one of these. It was on sale (it was used - but mint condish) for 2.99! What a steal!

The last thing was black flowers also purchased with the intention of using them in my quote book.
When I picked up Alex this afternoon from school he saw the black flowers and said “you should cut those up and make them in the shape of Belle (our dog) and then put brown button eyes and a collar on her… that would be a good idea don’t you think?” I starred at him thinking… maybe I should take him scrap supply shopping with me with ideas like that! What a great idea!
With so much to come there’s so much to talk about and will be so much more to POST on! I’ll keep you guys up-to-date as much as possible! So excited about it all!

scrappin this picture was a challange because the picture itself was so bold yet peaceful i wasn't sure where to go with it.

i ended up going quite bold in the end - with a velvet frame and lettering, thick lepherd ribbion and some hand sewing. the textured background paper i thought was in keeping with the vintage feel of the picture and dress i'm sleeping in.

this is one sweet page i love to look at - there's no journaling (like a lot of my pages) but didn't think it was needed.. other then of course the date and the fact that its me.

Since I started driving, like every girl, I wanted a convertible. Just before my 30th birthday that dream came true and now I call her my solstice and I love her! This is a random page dedicated to her. I have yet to complete a mini album about her.

I should also mention, this is the first page I ever used embossing powder and learned very quickly that a heating gun would be a very useful tool! I since have gotten one and will have to do an entire post on some of my embossing nightmares and successes since.

Favorite Pictures of my Childhood

most of our pictures growing up were posed pictures but these are candid and real. its what i remember about growing up, cold winters, and a good mom that would take us to the park inspite of temperature.
to frame the photos i used textured fabrics cut into a boho chic style. the top brown frame is a leather/ suede and the blue underbelly is a linen.

this one has the same linen underbelly but a carmel colored leather top with tons of texture.

close up. love my mom's shoes and my little hat and coat..

the ribbon & metal details bring the two pages together
